Given its newfound status as the most frequently used and widespread currency in the European market, the Euro has taken center stage on the foreign exchange market, and currency trading will never be the same. Having been launched into the market before the turn of the millennium and since then quickly replacing the many different currencies used in the European market, the Euro has had significant impact on the way currency traders do business on the FOREX.

One of the reasons—other than its relatively solitary status in the European countries in which its used—the Euro has reached such lofty heights is because of the significant weakening of the American dollar. For one of the first times in history, European money is not trading at a higher value than U.S. coin, throwing many a FOREX account into confusion and letting some wise predictors make off like bandits. While the Euro has a history of extraordinary fluctuations, some speculators insist that it will only settle from here on out, leaving the status relative to the American market solely in the hands of the U.S.

On the other hand, there is a strong representative of the opinion that the Euro is due for only more of its wild fluctuations in the future. Many speculators point to an unstable past as the primary indicator of what the future will hold for any currency. As global events such as the war in the Middle East take its toll on the U.S. dollar, so will America’s European allies feel the effects of terrorism and politics that affect all Western countries in various but similar ways. Of course, with an election coming in the United States, the results will have an impact one way or the other on the foreign exchange market as they always do. Until things settle down, it will be interesting to watch the immediate future of currency trading and the Euro.
